July 29, 2010

Dear *Teacher's Name*,

As the *parent/grandparent/guardian* of *Child's Name*, I do not want my child participating in the following activities:

  Halloween Section

Halloween – Halloween is a day dedicated to dark concepts, concepts that I am teaching my child to avoid. Please provide some other activity during times that celebrate this holiday. Fall activities are fine and *he/she* can even enjoy any food or candy brought in by other parents.

  Green Section

Green Days, Saving the Earth – It isn’t that I don’t desire my child to do their part in conservation or in supporting efforts to clean up the environment,  but many of these activities are supported  and established by groups with agendas and motives that I cannot agree with.  Please provide some other activity for my child during these events.

Also, please notify me when this subject is scheduled to be discussed, and what will be taught.
  Sex Ed. Section

Sexual Education – While I know that this topic is not taught in every grade, each year it seems to reach younger and younger children. Many of the goals and methods used in Sexual Education I find questionable. I also feel that it is my responsibility to teach this subject to my child, often because morality is so deeply tied to it. Please, keep my child from participating in any discussions or lessons involving Sexual Education.

Also, please notify me when this subject is scheduled to be discussed, and what will be taught.
  Tolerance Section

Homosexual, or Tolerance Training – This is obviously a sensitive subject, but often times my own morality is not represented in this discussion. I am teaching my child to show love and acceptance to all individuals regardless of their race, gender, age, or sexual preference. But, I do not teach my child that this lifestyle is good. Please, do not allow my child to be around this issue or its discussion for any reason.

Also, please notify me when this subject is scheduled to be discussed, and what will be taught.
  Evolution Section

Evolution – While many of our local teachers seek to be sensitive to this topic, the text books and matierials often pertrayed it more as fact, rather then popular scientific theory. This presentation is often a biased one, refusing to look at even the possibilities that other views present. And it is biased even in the face of evidance to the contrary. I do not want my child to be apart of such discussions. Please provide an alternative activity for my child.

Also, please notify me when this subject is scheduled to be discussed, and what will be taught.
  Santa Claus Section

Santa Claus – My child has been taught Santa Claus is not real, but my child has been instructed that *he/she* is not to tell other children this fact. I feel that Christmas is a holiday reserved for celebrating the birth of Christ and Christ alone. I will allow my child to participate in Christmas celebration but please stop *him/her* if *he/she* starts to tell other children that Santa Claus is not real.

  Personal Section

Also, please notify me when this subject is scheduled to be discussed, and what will be taught.

Thank you for your faithful instruction and service to my child. I appreciate your willingness to honor our beliefs.

  Contact Section
Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have.

Sincerly,
